What does a concrete contractor do?
A concrete contractor prepares the ground, sets the forms and steel, and places and finishes concrete for driveways, patios, sidewalks, slabs, foundations and walls. At Medina Concrete that starts with breaking out the old surface when there is one, and ends with the joints cut and the site cleaned up. We also build decks, pergolas, fences and framing.
How much do concrete contractors charge?
It depends on the size of the area, how thick the slab needs to be, how much old concrete or asphalt has to come out, how much grading the lot needs and the finish you pick. A stamped or stained finish costs more than a plain broom finish. Francisco gives free estimates, so the simplest way to get a real number is to call or send the form.
Is it cheaper to replace or repair concrete?
Small surface cracks and chips can often be patched or sealed for less than a new pour. When a slab has sunk, heaved, broken into pieces or tilts water back toward the house, the base under it has usually failed, and a patch will not hold. Francisco will tell you which one you are looking at during the free estimate.
What is the enemy of concrete?
Water, mostly. Water that sits under a slab softens the base, and Georgia red clay holds it, so poor drainage is behind a lot of cracked and sunken driveways and patios. Freeze and thaw are milder here than up north but still happen on cold winter nights, and summer heat can dry a fresh pour too fast if it is not cured properly.
